A Splenic Manifestor's Journey from Urge to Initiation
When nothing makes sense, but everything feels true.
When the Creative Urge Arrives
Last week, I had a creative urge.
During the night of October 8th, just as the Sun was moving through Gate 57, the Gate of Intuition in Human Design, I was lying wide awake at 1 am.
By 2 am, I was posting in different Facebook groups about my urge, my initiation.
There was no confusion, no doubt. Nothing made sense, but it felt so true that I trusted myself in the process.
The initiation?
To record the voices, stories and experiences of French-speaking Manifestor women.
But the creative urge actually arrived in French, with one particular word: recueillir.
And I want to keep this word because I don't think "collecting" fully captures what I'm describing. Recueillir carries a sense of receiving, welcoming and holding someone's words or testimony.
It's more than collecting stories. There's something about creating a space where these women's voices can be heard, received and held.
I needed to hear their voices
What's interesting is that I have no connection with the French Human Design community, and I now speak English 95% of the time. So I love seeing how language is becoming part of this creative process.
It's probably a topic for another time, but this topic of language, speaking several languages, expressing yourself in a different language that the one you were raised with, how some words can’t be translated facinates me. I often ponder how our personality, the way we appear, the depth we express and how seriously we are taken can be influenced by the language we speak and the accent we carry. I also wonder about our ability to fully express ourselves when we speak a second language, and how much of who we are actually comes through.
But back to the creative urge!
At 2 am, I posted about it. I informed who needed to be aware about this. A short post saying as it was.
When I arrived at work that morning, I felt I had to record a video in my car about what had just happened and gain calling with Frencj spekaing manifestor wormen.
I didn't do anything else at that stage. I just knew that the initiation had to be put out there.
I didn't have any more information, and although people were asking me for details, I couldn't give them more because I simply didn't have them.
I only knew what I knew, and that was enough for me to begin.
We Move Fast
One of the things about being a Manifestor is how quickly we can move when a creative urge arrives. We don't need to have everything figured out before taking action, and sometimes the movement happens before our mind has had time to catch up.
This is how it unfolded for me.
October 8th
2 am: Posted in several Facebook groups about my initiation.
8 am: Recorded and posted a video on Instagram.
Throughout the day: Started receiving responses from women interested in participating.
October 9th
Asked the interested women for their email addresses.
Recorded a video explaining the creative urge, what I knew about the project, and what I didn't know yet.
October 10th
Sent an email to all the women who had expressed interest, including my video and a link to book a time to share their voices.
In less than three days, something that hadn't existed in my world was becoming real, and women were already being invited to book a time to record their experiences.
And I still didn't know where it would lead.
What Is a Manifestor Creative Urge?
In Human Design, Manifestors are described as initiators, with the capacity to bring something new into motion without needing an external invitation.
As a Manifestor, creativity doesn't necessarily function in a logical or linear way. Creative urges can arrive spontaneously, unexpectedly, and with an intensity that is difficult to ignore.
You might be going about your day, or lying awake in the middle of the night, when suddenly something arrives. An impulse, a vision, something that feels incredibly alive inside you and creates an unmistakable need to act.
It's different from having an idea that you might explore one day. We all have ideas, and we can think about them, write them down, consider their possibilities, and decide whether or not to pursue them.
But a Manifestor creative urge feels different.
It's something you experience in your body, an internal movement or an undeniable pull towards bringing something into existence. The urge can feel so strong that postponing it doesn't seem possible.
And very often, the urge doesn't come with a complete plan or a clear picture of the outcome. Sometimes it only gives you the first step, and the rest reveals itself as you begin to move.
A creative urge doesn't have to make sense
This particular creative urge made no logical sense.
There was no end goal, no financial gain attached to it, and no business strategy behind it. And certainly no ideal timing, as I'm already in the middle of preparing two events, with plenty of things requiring my attention.
I have no established connection with the French Human Design community, and yet there I was, at 2 am, reaching out to French-speaking Manifestor women because I needed to hear their voices.
I didn't know what I would do with their recordings, what form this project might eventually take, or why it needed to happen now.
But here's something I've come to understand about creative urges.
Sometimes they are pieces of a much bigger puzzle that we cannot see yet.
We might only understand their meaning months, or even years, down the line. Something we initiate today might connect with another experience, another person, or another project much later, and suddenly what made no sense at the time begins to make sense.
We cannot see that bigger picture when the urge first arrives, and perhaps we don't need to.
This is where trust becomes essential.
Trusting the urge without knowing where it will lead, trusting that what we're being called to initiate today may have a significance we cannot yet understand, and trusting ourselves enough to act even when we can only see one piece of the puzzle.
Splenic Authority: A Knowing Without Explanation
In Human Design, Splenic Authority is an instinctive, intuitive way of making decisions.
It's a knowing that arrives in the present moment, quiet, immediate, and often without any logical explanation. It doesn't give you the full picture or tell you what will happen next. It simply gives you a sense of what feels right, right now.
Unlike the mind, which can go over the same question again and again, Splenic intuition is said to speak only once.
As a Splenic Manifestor, this is something I've learned to recognise and trust.
When the urge to record the voices of French-speaking Manifestor women arrived, I didn't need to understand why.
I knew. And I moved.
A Deep Trust
When this creative urge arrived, I followed my Splenic Authority, even though none of it made sense from a logical perspective.
I didn't know what I would do with these recordings, how many women would respond, or what might come out of their stories. I had no plan, no strategy, and no clear outcome in mind.
What I had was a knowing, and I trusted it.
For me, this is one of the most important parts of living as a Splenic Manifestor: learning to trust what I know, even when my mind doesn't have the information to explain it.
It's about trusting the timing, even when it seems inconvenient, and trusting the creative urge, even when I cannot see where it will lead.
It also means trusting myself enough to take the first step without needing to know the tenth.
I am willing to honour what feels true in the moment and discover what unfolds from there.
And right now, that means listening to the voices of French-speaking Manifestor women.
I don't know yet what this initiation will become, or how it might fit into the bigger picture.
But I know that I needed to begin.
