Why I love the Sun’s Transits
Let’s chat about the Sun’s transits and why I love them so much.
A bit of explanation about Human Design, iChing, Gene Keys before we link all this to the concept of the Sun’s transits.
64 Human Design gates, 64 Gene Keys, 64 Hexagrams
In Human Design, there are 64 gates that form the Human Design mandala, with each gate representing a different energetic theme, archetype, or expression of human experience. These 64 gates are rooted in the ancient wisdom of the I Ching, an old Chinese system built upon 64 hexagrams that explore the patterns and cycles of life and consciousness. The Gene Keys system is also based on these same 64 archetypes, offering a more contemplative lens into the different frequencies of human awareness and evolution.
The Sun
The Sun is considered the most influential planetary body within the Human Design system and it moves through these 64 gates throughout the year.
Approximately every six days the sun enters one of the 64 gate, this is what we call the Sun’s transit.
And each time the sun enters a new gate, it brings a different energetic theme into focus for the collective, creating a continuous rhythm of evolving awareness, opportunity for contemplation, and experience that we move through together throughout the year.
What I love about this transit is that although everyone experiences the same collective movement of energy, each person experiences it uniquely depending on their individual chart.
For some people, the transit may activate energies that already feel familiar within them, while for others it may temporarily awaken completely new dynamics or perspectives within their experience for several days. In this way, the transits create an ongoing dance between personal energy and collective energy, constantly inviting deeper awareness of both ourselves and the world around us.
I see these transits as energetic themes or atmospheric influences that offer opportunities for observation, reflection, contemplation, and embodiment.
The Sun is currently transiting through gate 16
Right now, on the 28 of May 2026, the Sun is transiting through Gate 16, often known as the Gate of Skills or Enthusiasm.
Gate 16 embodies the continuous journey toward mastering skills through dedicated practice, experimentation and refinement. This gate is the essence of developing talent by honing various skills, often through repetitive processes. It carries the energy of developing talent over time by engaging with repetition, exploration, and lived experience, reminding us that mastery is not something rushed, but something cultivated through devotion to the process itself.
This gate is situated in the Throat Center, and Gate 16 is the voice of “I experiment,” reflecting its natural desire to explore, test, refine, and evolve.
Its energy is associated with:
Developing expertise through practice
Refining systems, methods, or performance
Bringing enthusiasm and vitality into communication and work
Demonstrating competence in a practical and visible way
Gate 16 reminds us that growth is often found within the willingness to stay engaged with something long enough for depth to emerge naturally. It invites us to move beyond the idea of immediate perfection and instead embrace the living process of refinement, expression, experimentation, and embodied learning.
This transit can invite us to reconnect with what what we feel naturally drawn to practice, explore, improve, or express.
The transits, for me, are an occasion to pause and contemplate a new theme and this time I’m inviting you to join me.
Invitation to contemplate the energy of Gate 16
How does my energy shift when I share something I truly enjoy?
What skill, gift, or passion am I being invited to nurture more intentionally?
Where in my life am I already evolving through experimentation?
